Dense, authoritative, comprehensive. Located at the University of Toronto, this collection of documents is an electronic summary of Ian Graham's highly regarded HTML Sourcebook. Not for beginners.
Originally developed as informal guidelines for good practice, this document has benefitted from extensive feedback from net users. Highly readable. Plenty of common sense. Requires a general understanding of HTML.
Developed at the Yale Centre for Advanced Instructional Media, this document is a graduate level guide to web page design. Formal and analytical style. An excellent reference.
The use of background colour in documents and tables is becoming increasingly common. While the tag construction for colour is quite straightforward, one has to supply specific colour values. The Hex Color Chart site provides a basic set of colours with their hexadecimal values.
This is an eclectic and idiosyncratic resource page, covering every conceivable aspect of web page construction. Hard to discern the order in which resources and references are organized, but hard to ignore the enthusiasm of the author.
